Very Hungry Caterpillar Storytime Puppet
Help the Hungry Caterpillar eat his way through the popular children's story.
Screen-printed, quilted characters are readily eaten up and tucked inside the Caterpillar
until he emerges into a Beautiful Butterfly!
Doll functions more like
a puppet than a doll. While telling the story, an adult can tuck the wings under their arm so the children
cannot see the butterfly wings, only the caterpillar. Once the caterpillar is full, the wings can
'emerge' and they can flap like a real butterfly! Adults
and children alike will enjoy him! Size: 12" x 14" at full wing-span.
The Hungry Caterpillar is handcrafted in the Philippines by a community of nuns and their surrounding
village community. The nuns began making dolls
like Hungry Caterpillar and other story dolls (see the other characters to the right),
to support their modest lifestyle. As demand for these beautiful, handcrafted dolls grew,
the nuns reached out to the surrounding village folk for help in creating these dolls.
Purchases of the Hungry Caterpillar helps the nuns live modestly while also helping the local community.
The Hungry Caterpillar is a perfect gift for a school teacher, ECFE class, nanny,
young babysitter or simply a Mom or Dad looking to entertain their children while enhancing
their children's imagination. The quality of this doll is impeccable. While the
character's fabric may vary a bit from the picture, as the community uses products
available to them, the stitching, material and hand craftsmanship are second to none. Recommended age: 13 years+ (contains small parts).
